I will be adding new work to the shop as it comes out of the kiln so little and often rather than a big shop update so please keep checking back to see what s new. Each piece is thrown and hand built with dark earthenware or speckled stoneware clay in my studio in inverness shire. I combine earthly clay with soft layered glazes and simple hand drawn illustrations. I began making pottery full time after a move north from glasgow in 2010.

Craftsmanship and quality are very important to me. I decorate with multiple layers of studio made glazes. My online shop is now open with one off pieces made and ready to post. Julia smith graduated with a ba hons in ceramics from glasgow school of art in 1996. She then worked as a community and public artist based in glasgow sculpture studios from 1998 2007. Everything is made in house in my studio in ardersier near inverness.

All the pottery in my shop is thrown or hand built and hand printed designs are added to the glazed surfaces inspired by my local natural environment and the simple pleasures of everyday life.
