I m all for customization and loot crates and whatnot but i will never buy this game if i have to constantly spend more and more of my money just to unlock cool gear.

The crates can be unlocked with a decryption key purchasable from the trading floor or on the steam market.
The more important fact is that you can get the skins from the key crates for free just by playing.
You can also get them at the end of waves so you get a chance to get a skin or player accessory for free.
There is also a chance the crate will contain a precious golden accessory.
Then yes you can find the items for free.
I have gotten mutliples skins that are found in key crates.
Both are neon weapon skin bundles.
The best way to currently earn crate keys is by playing killing floor 2 for around a half hour or so each day.
These crates contain the various cosmetic items and weapon skins available throughout killing floor 2.
Crafting tokens for weapons and cosmetics out of crates is a good feature.
You can actually earn keys regardless if you win or lose a match.
You get crates for free regularly but i don t think the above image of a key drop should get anyone excited.
For dosh emotes however you only get it from unlocking crates at the moment.
Unwanted crates can either be sold on the marketplace or recycled into cosmetic materials for crafting.
